Highlights of My Trip:

It was the Diving by far and how beautiful the coral reefs are and the activity there. There was a plethora of different kinds of fish and marine life to explore as well as a few wrecks. Since we did the dive package we were able to also try out snorkeling a few times in lieu of scuba which gave a different perspective.

Things that surprised me that others should know before visiting this destination:

The Roatan Marine Park is not supported by the Honduras government and relies on contributions elsewhere to help maintain the reefs and the ecosystem surrounding them. They have implemented measures like providing mooring lines for boats to use for “anchoring” vs allowing boats to use anchors and destroy the coral reefs over time. I think the other thing that blew me away was the staff at Anthony’s Key, they appear to be happy and the tenure of staff was outstanding. No one under 10 years employment, and many have been there for 20, 30, 35 years!
